Location: El Segundo, CA
Engaged: December 14th, 2009
Our eHarmony success story began in January of 2008. He says that I made the first nudge, and I say that he did. Either way, we are thrilled that we found each other through EHarmony. After many back and forth questions, likes, dislikes and emails, we finally spoke on the phone. We talked for over 2 hours, three nights in a row, and had our first official date on January 12, 2008.
At the time of meeting Greg, I was 45, and still had hope of meeting “Mr. wonderful”. Greg was 44 and divorced, but looking for a committed relationship.
What was so amazing about our match is that we are compatible in so many ways. Our morals, values, and goals are similar. Not to say we are identical in all ways, but in the most important. (This is the difference between other dating sites and eHarmony).
I was/am a busy entrepreneur and didn’t have the time (or interest) to meet someone in a bar setting. Greg wasn’t interested in meeting someone in that environment either. And the amazing coincidence is that when we met, we lived literally ½ mile from each other. We were living in the same town in El Segundo and it took eHarmony to bring us together.
We both love sports, especially golf, as evidence by his proposal. We had been dating for almost a year, and Greg surprised me with a weekend away in Palm Springs. We were going to relax by the pool on Saturday, and golf on Sunday. (We had already started looking at engagement rings, but Greg being a traditionalist, wanted the final pick on the ring and proposal.) As we women do, I assumed that this “might be the weekend.” We were on the 14th hole on Sunday afternoon, and by that time, I assumed Greg was trying to fool me and he would propose on a different weekend.
We decided to finish up for the day, as the sun was setting and it was getting cold. I finally got my ball onto the green, and then after several putts (I won’t say how many), I got the ball in the hole. When I went to pick up my ball, I noticed it wasn’t the one I was using all day and said, “That’s not my ball.” After picking it up, I read “Rita Will You Marry Me? Greg” on the ball. I was shocked, surprised, laughing and crying. Greg got down on one knee and proposed. It is the single happiest moment of my life!
We are kindred spirits, soul mates, best friends, happy, loving and respect each other immensely. We each met each other at the right time in our lives, and we are each other’s compliment. We accept each other for who we are, and I believe we are each better people because of each other. Kind of like icing on a cake!
Thank you, eHarmony. You have helped make our lives complete.
