Dating on the Cheap During the Holidays
Create a Walking Tour
This date idea is not only unique, but it also showcases your creativity (double points!). Map out certain landmarks in your city or suburb and stop by preplanned destinations along the way. End the date in a scenic location like a historic building or park. And make sure your tour lasts well into the evening so you can take in all the lit-up Christmas decorations!
Enjoy the Outdoors
Anything outdoors is usually free and has the added benefit of letting you show off your athletic side. During the holidays, the weather lends itself to summer sports like beach volleyball, swimming and kayaking. If you’re not the sporty type don’t despair – try a leisurely sunset walk or bike ride along the coast line. It’s also perfect picnic weather this time of year – so pack a rug, wine, cheeses and antipasto treats for a romantic, and cost-effective, outdoor date.
Bring out your inner child and host your own tree-trimming party – for two. Buy a small, inexpensive tree and spend the date trimming and decorating. Set the mood with some sparkling wine and festive music for the background.
Take advantage of this time of year and spend the evening Christmas caroling. Unless your vocal chords are up to par, this works best as a group date. The other singers will drown out your off-key rendition of ‘Silent Night’ and you’ll have plenty of time to get in conversation with your date while traveling door to door.
An evening out doesn’t have to be expensive to be memorable and fun. Let your creative side benefit from all the holidays have to offer. It’s a time to break away from the standard routine and give your match a date to remember – on a budget.
