The best daytime dates in Perth

Whaleback golf course

For a date with a difference, try a day out at a driving range. It doesn’t matter if you’re both golfing novices – the best thing about driving ranges is that skill and technique take a backseat to having fun.

Whaleback has two storeys which you can shoot the balls from, with the top level giving you a great view of the trees on a sunny day. Even if you’re both terrible, it’s a good ice breaker for a post-date drink.

Heathcote Park

Take in the views and enjoy a romantic stroll at one of the best parks in Perth. While many daters opt for Kings Park, Heathcote offers equally fantastic views in a charming atmosphere. If you want a great way to enjoy the outdoors on a date, there’s no better place in which to do it.

Choose a sunny day and take a bracing walk, or enjoy the view from one of the many shady spots dotted around the park. There are several kiosks for food and drink if either of you gets hungry.

Fraser Avenue Lookout

A great place for a late afternoon meet-up, Fraser Avenue Lookout offers breath-taking views across the whole city. It’s best to visit during daytime hours as it becomes very popular indeed after the sun goes down and the sights are just as spectacular. You could also include a stroll through the adjacent Botanical Gardens as part of this brilliant daytime date.

Swan River

The Swan River stretch is a popular location for many inhabitants of Perth who want to spend a day enjoying the outdoors. Explore the many attractive walkways or take a cruise upstream from the ferry terminal. The calm waters are a great location for swimming, fishing, crabbing or just enjoying the view. If you’re feeling adventurous, why not hire bikes and take a ride to Heirisson Island to see the kangaroos in the wild?

Penguin Island

If you fancy going a little further afield, Penguin Island is a top idea for a daytime date. The unique reserve is home to West Australia’s largest colony of penguins and the island also features some fantastic beaches with crystal-clear waters. There are three feeding sessions throughout the day or you could take some time to enjoy the nature trails and rock pools all around the island. The island is open to visitors from mid-September through to early June.
