Kate and Pete
Kate: “Initially, I didn’t like the idea of searching the internet for a partner but my sister kept encouraging me to try online. I’d heard good things about eHarmony and how it matched people based on their personality type and thought it would be a good way to meet genuine people.
Pete was a member of eHarmony before I joined. He’d actually been off the site for a while as he hadn’t found anyone but decided to try eHarmony again just as I signed up. Amazing timing! We instantly started speaking. We messaged each other via eHarmony, then emailed each other and finally began to use messenger. I then gave Pete my number and we spoke on the phone for hours at a time. We had so much in common!
Pete and I lived 350 kilometres apart so we met on the side of one of the major highways that ran between our towns! I was with my parents, coming home from a trip and Pete met us on the way home. He drove me part of the way and we chatted in the car. He then stayed a few days in my home town. We were both very nervous but excited to meet one another. I think Pete might have been more nervous than me but he could be excused - he did have to meet my parents on our first date!
In March last year we went away to Forster for the weekend. It poured with rain the whole time but we went swimming at the beach in high tide anyway. I wondered why Pete was so paranoid about our things and he kept checking to make sure that our bags were alright, to make sure they hadn’t been swept away by the waves. When we got out of the water and got dry, Pete took a ring from his bag and proposed to me in the sprinkling rain. I had no idea at all! I said yes and we went for a lovely seafood dinner. It was very romantic.
Our wedding is fast approaching. We are pretty organised and very excited! We’re also in the process of building a house too, so we’re keeping ourselves very busy.”
