Natasha and Trent
Natasha: “Trent and I met through eHarmony on the 22nd May 2011. I remember the date because I recall telling him on our first date about my aversion to text-message flirting because it could get terribly distracting, so that evening I received a message from him which was: 'First and last text message ever. Trent '.
Our first date had been pretty casual, a Sunday morning coffee date at Southbank in Brisbane. I was immediately struck by his bubbly personality and big smile. Usually on first dates, I had found myself talking a lot to prevent awkward silences, but I didn't have to do that with him. I remember laughing so much my cheeks started to hurt. The email correspondence (through eHarmony) had been pretty minimal at this point, because we were both big believers in the kind of chemistry which only happens when you're with someone face-to-face. I do however, remember being quite impressed with his profile and his ability to be quite honest and open about who he was and what he wanted from a relationship. We still joke about the fact that he was listed as a 'flexi-match' for me, most likely because he is 2 years younger and I was apprehensive about dating anyone much younger than myself.
Our relationship started as it has continued, with lots of openness, honesty and a whole lot of fun. On Australia Day this year, Trent took me back to Southbank and, without me realising, retraced the places we visited and things we did on our first date in reverse. When we arrived at the spot we first met, he pulled a ring out of his pocket and proposed. Our wedding is in December and I can safely say that neither of us has ever been this happy. Thank you eHarmony!”
