Dave and Lydia
Dave: “After moving to Australia, I was finding it difficult to meet like minded people. I saw an advert on TV about an eHarmony success story and decided that it would be worth a go. A few friends told me that I was crazy and it simply didn't work. After loading up my profile and photos on eHarmony, it didn't take long before I was matched with Lydia.
We sent ice breakers and messages for a while before exchanging numbers. We organised our first date just before a trip that I had planned to go over to New Zealand and unfortunately, when it came around, I was so busy sorting stuff out that I had to cancel at the last minute. Thankfully, Lydia was still keen to meet me when I got back. My parents were also due to come to Australia for a visit so we organised our first date for the night before they arrived.
I was a little nervous prior to our first date but while I was waiting, I caught Lydia in the light of her phone and my heart stopped... she was beautiful! We went for a drink and talked all evening, not even mentioning eHarmony once, which we now find quite remarkable.
I knew quite quickly that I would like to see Lydia again; it just flowed and felt so natural. We talked like we had known each other for years. I actually really wanted to introduce Lydia to my parents as they were over from the UK for a couple of weeks. I know that sounds strange as we had only been on one date but I knew it was something special.
On Lydia's birthday, we woke up early for sunrise and I drove her to the lighthouse in Byron Bay. I told her that I wanted to start a serious relationship and that I loved her like I’ve never loved anyone before. I knew she felt the same and so from then we were official. We are both from the UK and will be flying back there in September meet our respective families and friends.”
