Elissa and Regn
Elissa: “After two failed marriages and having five children in tow, I thought online dating was a great way to meet people. After trying other sites and not finding that elusive connection, I decided to join eHarmony. I was quite content on my own, however would have liked someone to have a chat with and enjoy each other’s company. If I was going to fall in love, I was at the point of not settling for anything but the fairytale.
I was one of Regn’s first matches, and he had sent me a message just as I was heading out the door for a girls night. I couldn’t help but read the message and his profile. I loved the way he seemed totally genuine, said it how it was, and we seemed to be at exactly the same stage in life. Even though at this point he did not have a photo, I just felt I must respond. So I sent a quick email to let him know I was on my way out but would be in touch in the morning.
We exchanged a couple of emails before progressing to a phone call. The first time we spoke it lasted for hours, and the only reason we got off the phone was that it was extremely early in the morning and I had to get up for work the next day. We talked about anything and everything. It was as if I was speaking to someone I had known for years; Regn felt so familiar to me.
We continued with the phone calls and tried to set up a first date. After some difficulty working around work and the children, we finally had a weekend to spend together. Regn asked me if I would like to go away for an overnight stay. I was absolutely comfortable with the prospect as I knew we got along great and I could not wait to spend some time with him. We chose Noosa as he had never been up the sunshine coast to explore. It was perfect; markets, a stroll around Hastings Street, relaxing at the spa, and enjoying dinner together, just as if we had known each other forever.”
Regn: “It was a month or so into the friendship when I realised that although Elissa and I started out only wanting to be friends, feelings were starting to develop. I knew from day one that Elissa and I had something very special. The way we communicated, understood each other and could just be ourselves in each other’s company; there was definitely something there all along.
We have grown not only as individuals, but as a couple and as a family unit. We have a future that we both see and have recently made the big decision to move in together in August of this year. We are planning many more overseas trips together and although I thought it never possible again, I am very much in love and can certainly see myself spending the rest of my life with Elissa."
