Natascha and Travis
Natascha: “I joined eHarmony in April 2011 after my mum and surrogate mum encouraged me to. Being a business owner, with a very busy schedule – not to mention fussy when it came to men, I wanted to join a dating site that would take the guesswork out of dating. I had been on the site for a few months and had received a few matches – none of them had peaked my interest and I began to grow discouraged. So I rang the customer help line and a lovely lady guided me on how to improve and broaden my match prospects, I felt really happy after speaking to her.
There after I received many more matches and with the eHarmony guided communication quickly sifted out who I wished to meet in person. I had been on other online sites and was put off by the lack of compatibility between myself and the men who contacted me so it wasted a lot of my time, whereas eHarmony cut out that whole time consuming exercise of discovering that you’re ultimately incompatible with someone. On October 26th, I received communication from Travis. Immediately I loved his profile and when I saw his photo, I was very keen! So we went through all steps of guided communication and didn’t jump to the last email stage straight away, with that we learnt so much about each other in a short space of time and I think I had begun to fall for Travis even then. He says he did too. We emailed solely through eHarmony till we met and only exchanged phone numbers to txt one another between emails.
Travis initiated the meeting and said he would like to spend time with me in person and just get locked in conversation as he loved the way I wrote and he even said, "I can understand how men fell in love with woman in the war merely through writing, every time I read your emails." Naturally he melted my heart. He suggested I book at a restaurant that I like in Mandurah, and he would drive down from Corrigin and take me on a date. He timed it so that I had the following day off too.
The day we met I had to be present at an expo that my business was part of and all I could think about was meeting Travis at 7pm! He messaged me to say he was on his way, then again to say he had checked into his hotel and to say he was leaving for the restaurant. I arrived a little late (beauty takes time) and as I walked across the car park and saw him I had to remind myself to breathe and put one foot in front of the other, he was more gorgeous in real life. From the moment he smiled and said hello, I was weak at the knees. We went up to the restaurant and had a perfect experience, the ambiance was great, the food sublime and service impeccable, we were both nervous to start with but by main course felt comfortable. He ended up kissing me at the table after main course! I nearly fell off my chair (I mean I am the girl who follows rules and Rule #1 is: No kissing on the first date. Well that went out the window!)
Over the next few weeks, Travis spent half of every week with me in Mandurah and I would go to Corrigin for a day a week too. After a month he said he wanted to move in with me and I had no reason to object. He completed his work in Corrigin and on Christmas Eve he proposed on the beach! My dad was on holiday from South Africa and Travis especially waited to ask him for permission, it was an incredibly joyful Christmas for both our families. His mum says it feels like I have been in their family for years, and my mum is so grateful and happy that I have finally met the man of my dreams after waiting so patiently for so long.
Since getting engaged, and living together for 4 months, I have to say I absolutely love Travis with every breath I take and the more I get to know him on a daily basis, the more I thank God for the opportunity eHarmony gave us to meet. Consequently many of our friends and acquaintances and even clients have joined eHarmony! I tell everyone openly how we met and receive such positive responses. It was funny however when we visited a local tennis club and one of the elderly ladies that Travis had been paired up with in a doubles match asked how he met me, replied to his answer with "OOH! You need to be careful with that computer dating." We love that story.
Our wedding is on the 21st of July and so far everything is going perfectly to plan. Some say we have moved too fast but we say when you know you just know. I am sure Travis would happily tell you his version of how we met etc. and I know he has advised many of his friends to follow his lead and try meet the woman of their dreams.”
